The game was played on the backdrop of half of the players on display having secured a Leinster Final place for the Community College earlier in the day. This showed when one of Skryne’s key players had to be replaced early in the first half with a badly blistered foot. Games between the sides are generally close affairs but on this occasion Royal Gaels took control from the start Niamh Gallogly and Cara Usher took control of the midfield almost from the off. An early point from Niamh Hetherington was followed up by a powerful run and finish from Allanah Chalkley to raise the green flag. Further points from Hetherington, Chalkley and Gallogly gave the girls a lead going into half time, the only response from Skryne being a pointed free. Playing with the slope in the second half, the half forward line of Chalkley Hetherington and Scanlon started to tear into the Skryne defence and started to score at will. Skryne did have one or 2 forays into the Gaels’ half but these were stoutly defended by the backs and some great defending by Saoirse Patchell and Gemma Donoghue. Next up for the girls will be a home fixture against Donaghmore Ashbourne. Royal Gaels U16 – Amy Mulvaney, Kate Hanley, Sarah Darby, Katie Usher, Saoirse Patchell, Gemma Donoghue (0-1), Sadhbh O’Muiri, Niamh Gallogly (1-2), Cara Usher (0-1), Tara Scanlon, Niamh Hetherington (2-3), Alannah Chalkley (1-4), Louise Nevin, Ailis Bruce (1-1), Aideen McCabe. Subs-Laura Costello, Katie Usher, Eimear Traynor, Laura Quinn; Quinn for Hanley, Kelly for Usher, Traynor (0-1) for McCabe, Costello for Nevin. Registration reminder. Any Royal Gaels member who is not registered with the club by this friday cannot play or train with the club as per LGFA regulations. If you are not registered and wish to play this year pls contact your mentor or committee members immediately. Well done to the 4 Royal Gaels u12 girls, Petra Reilly, Katelyn Doherty, Tara Hetherington & Ciara Gorman who have been selected for the Meath U12 county panel 2013. We are all very proud of you. Best of luck for the season ahead. Congratulations to our u12 snr ladies team who had a fantastic win over Dunboyne on tuesday last. Our ladies ran out impressive 7-3 to 3-6 winners. Our scorers were Ciara Gorman 4-1, Katelyn Doherty 2-0, Mary McDonagh 1-0, Tara Hetherington 0-1 and Ava O’Brien 0-1. Well done to one and all and a massive thanks to all who came out to support the girls. Your support as always is greatly appreciated.Weekend Notes
