AFL DIVISION 1

A, Football League, Division 1
Dunshaughlin 2-17 Dunboyne 1-8
Our Senior men’s team had second great win in the space of a week when we defeated near neighbours St Peter’s Dunboyne on Friday last in the All County A League Division 1. The game played in lovely sunshine with a large crowd was an open & adventurous affair, with the home side clocking up 2-17 to the visitors 1-8.
Dunshaughlin got off to great start in the first 10 minutes with  Tadhg Ó Dushláine at the heart of numerous good attacks, but in fairness the complexion of that early scoreboard could have been very different other than a fine save by Andrew Smith very early on. Once Dunshaughlin got the initiative, they held it till the break, going in at half time 1-10 to 0-5 up.
The second half was similar to the first, and missing their county men & some exam tied players Dunboyne just never really got a foothold in the game.
For Dunshaughlin it has been a great 7 days, and the points on the board in that week is only now  starting to reflect the hard work and effort that has been applied by the squad since the start of the year. Flying wing back Daithi Dunne had a powerful outing, finishing with a tally of 1-2, but the great work done upfront was matched by some quality defending by new & not so new campaigners in the defence . Of course Jack Crimmins will keep getting a special mention as long as the cheques keep coming from Europe!
