B FL Div 2 V Nobber

B League, Division

Dunshaughlin 4-13 Nobber 4-8

Dunshaughlin’s long journey to Nobber was rewarded with a closely fought game and a narrow victory. The home team got the right to wear black and amber while Dunshaughlin sported their new St. Martin’s inspired red jerseys. Conceding a goal and a point in the early minutes of both halves wasn’t the ideal start, but a good recovery in the first period overturned the home side’s early lead and Dunshaughlin led by 1-8 to 1-4 at the break. Danny Quinn put his name to the goal while Mark Devanney from frees and play accounted for three points. Cillian Hart had the first two points while Adam Kealy, Quinn and Harry Dunne also added points.

Then came Nobber’s whirlwind start to the second half and even though Harry Dunne halted their gallop with a goal and a point Nobber added two more goals after Dunshaughlin lost possession in attack. With ten minutes remaining the north Meath men held a two-point advantage but from there to the end it was all Dunshaughlin. Super sub Tommy Kinsella hit two goals in as many minutes while points from Quinn, Kealy, and Ger Geoghegan extended the gap to five at the final whistle. A great battling team performance against the best team we’ve played in the division highlighted by stand-out performances from David Fildes, Niall O Connor, Paul Briody and Harry Dunne. Dunshaughlin remain unbeaten after five games and edge out Na Fianna at the top of the table with a superior score difference. Next up is St Michaels in Dunshaughlin on Saturday, 18th May
