B FL Div. 5 v Kilbride

B League, Division 5

Kilbride 2-11 Dunshaughlin 1-10

Kilbride and Dunshaughlin served up an entertaining game on a cold Friday evening before the visitors went away with the points. Dunshaughlin’s failure to convert some gilt-edged first half chances was the difference between the teams. The Black and Ambers could only manage three points in the first half hour, a pair from Shane Claire and the other from Cathal McCormack. A much improved second half yielded 1-7 but Kilbride always managed to keep their noses in front in a keenly contested sporting game. Padraig Clinton grabbed his side’s only goal early in the second half and though Dunshaughlin reduced the deficit to three points close to the end a second goal just wouldn’t come and Kilbride ended the game with a four points advantage.

Although the team is at the bottom of the table without a win it has been competitive in every outing and will have gained good experience when the championship resumes.

Gary O Connor; Paddy Dalton, Diarmuid Shanahan, Tom Dalton; Luke Mccarthy, Ger Geoghegan, Conor Mooney; Pádraig Clinton (1-0), Paul Gilsenan (0-1); Cathal McCormack (0-3), Trevor Dowd (0-3), Brian Clinton; Darren Murphy, Seamus Doyle, Shane Claire (1-3). Subs: Kenny McTigue; Darragh Quinn; Cormac Curtin; Liam Reilly.

It is so encouraging to see such a large panel of players for our third team considering we were struggling to get a team out for our 2nd team a few years ago.
