B FL Division 5 Round 2

B FL Div 5

Dunshaughlin 0-9 Moynalty 2-5

It was a game of two halves under lights in Dunshaughlin on Thursday night when visitors Moynalty dominated the first half with Dunshaughlin taking control after half time. Moynalty had 2-5 on the scoreboard before Dunshaughlin recorded the first home score and the inability to get at least one back in the second half proved costly.

After Moynalty’s early blitz Andy Leneghan, Adam Summerville and Darren Murphy got Dunshaughlin off the mark with points and Cormac Dowling closed the scoring with a point just before half time. Moynalty could only manage a single second half point as Dunshaughlin gradually ate into the lead. Seamus Doyle, after great work by Neil Byrne, Pádraig Clinton, Gavin Malone and Neil Byrne with two brought the deficit down to two points, but despite a couple of goalmouth scrambles Dunshaughlin couldn’t find the net and suffered a narrow defeat.

Ger Geoghegan, Liam Reilly, and Eoin O Connor were outstanding in defence and Liam Donovan, Seamus Doyle and Cillian Hart played well up front. Overall it was a very committed performance from all twenty-two players that deserved at least a draw.
