Feis Cup Round 1

Feis Cup, Na Fianna 1-15 Dunshaughlin 0-13

Dunshaughlin’s alarm clocks didn’t go off until half time in the Feis Cup tie v Na Fianna in sunny Enfield on Sunday morning. By then they had conceded 1-9 and but for Andy Smith’s vigilance and shot stopping it could have been another two goals. When they did wake up the black and ambers put in a strong second half performance and could have had three goals but for a lack of composure in front of goals.

Ethan Devine’s goal in the second quarter kept Na Fianna in front throughout, but two fine points from Shane Gallogly and others from Ronan Geraghty, Niall Murphy, John Crimmins and Wes Goodwin kept Dunshaughlin in the game. Goodwin went on a scoring spree in the second half, combining efforts from play and from frees but though Dunshaughlin reduced the deficit to three the goal they needed to be in with a chance of winning eluded them.
