JAFC – Group C, O’Mahonys V Dunshaughlin

JFC: Dunshaughlin 3-20 O Mahonys 0-8

Dunshaughlin made the long journey to Cortown for the fifth round of the Junior championship and had the points wrapped up by half time. It took a while for the forwards to find their shooting boots in unfamiliar surroundings but once they found the range a dozen points were recorded before half time. The all-action Liam Carey added a goal following an error by the O Mahony’s keeper and James Rattigan shook the net after a move started by a slick Trevor Dowd interception and carried on by Carey who created the opening for Rattigan’s scorcher. The Black and Ambers added three further points early in the second half before an O Mahony’s revival produced seven points with Dunshaughlin relying on a fine Paul Briody effort in reply. Dunshaughlin finished out the half with a unanswered 1-4, the goal courtesy of Seamus Doyle, who gave an excellent display at full forward. He finished off a move that began with Mark Galvin’s accurate kick out and continued with Barry Jordan and Mark Devanney combining to set up Doyle for a clinical finish.
