Full Time:   Dunshaughlin: 7-19 (40)   St. Patrick’s 2-5 (11)
Half Time: Dunshaughlin: 3-11 (20)   St. Patrick’s 0-5

A Dunshaughlin scoring blitz totalling 2 goals and 3 points between the 9th and the 12th minutes of the first half, in effect ended this second round Minor (under 17) Summer League game as a contest.
Once again all available Dunshaughlin under 17’s started with the remainder of the team made up of a mixture of the younger under 16’s and under 15’s.
Dunshaughlin opened the scoring with a pointed free from Ruairi Kinsella (after Cillian McCool was fouled) which was followed by a Colm Keane point from play. St. Pats replied with a pointed free. In the ninth minute Daragh Byrne scored a lovely point and over the following three minutes Dunshaughin scored another 2-2, 1-2 from Aaron Murphy and a goal from Kinsella. In the 20th minute Dunshaughlin had the ball in the back of the St. Pat’s net again, this time Byrne on the end of good team play, in between Kinsella, Byrne & Jared Rushe had pointed from play. St Pats scores were getting hard to come by as Dunshaughlin backs and midfield were dominating and the majority of Jack Nestor’s Kickouts were making their way into Dunshaughlin hands.
The second the last score of the half was a beautiful long range point from Conor Gray either side of points from Keane & John McDonagh. At the short whistle the home team led 3-11 to 0-5.
Not too unlike the first round game, there was a few minutes lapse in concentration from Dunshaughlin, this time early in the 2nd half allowing St. Pats score 2 goals, but that was as close as it got, from the kickout for the 2nd goal Conor Gray won a mark and from there on Dunshaughlin kept the visitor’s scoreless while scoring 4- 8 themselves. That was made up of two goals from Keane, a goal a piece from Murphy and McDonagh and two points each from Charlie O’ Connor, McDonagh, Kinsella and Murphy. Murphy’s goal coming from a beautiful precise long range pass from Kinsella.
The second half also saw a big increase in turnovers won by the home team, led by Alex Arkins who won 4, Robert Walker, Fursey Blake, Ciaran McCarrick, James Traynor, Cian McLoughlin, Moustafa Saadon, Calum Deehan, Gray, Rushe & Kinsella all won varying amounts of the other 15 second half turnovers. The management will be happy with the overall performance and especially that all the team worked so hard to force turnovers but will be looking for improvement on the eight second half wides, other shots on target not converted and loss of our own poccession. Once again all panel members present had lots of game time and the experience gained especially by our three under 15’s Moustafa, Charlie and Alex will be very beneficial.
