U15 Leinster League Div 2

Dunshaughlin’s under 15 team got their 2018 Leinster League division 2 campaign off to a winning start on Saturday with a 6-9 to 2-7 victory over Maynooth.

The final score does not reflect how close it was for most of the game as 5 minutes into the 2nd half the teams were level. The heroics in the Dunshaughlin goal by Cian Edwards who made four excellent saves and clinical shooting by Ruairi Kinsella scoring four goals were major factors in the big gap in scores at the end.

Considering it was the first game of the year it was no surprise the Dunshaughlin lads were a bit rusty in the first half and coming in at half time leading by just one point (1-6 to 1-5) they knew some of the errors could not be repeated in the 2nd period.

In that 2nd half Dunshaughlin moved the ball more direct and faster and split opened Maynooth defence time and again scoring 5 goals and four points. All 15 boys in the Black and Amber played out of their skins in the 2nd and well deserved their victory.  The u15 team had 2 new recruits to this team, Thomas Boyle & Jack Harrington.
