Executive Committee Update

A wide range of correspondence was received since the last meeting including various coaching courses, adult fixtures, need for video permits to video games; Summer Cúl camps, in Dunshaughlin 22-26 July; Transfers Out: David Baggott to Michael Cusack’s, Australia; club accounts sent to County Board; affiliation fees for adult men’s teams €5,625, juvenile boys €1,280.

Juvenile Presentation

  • Presentation arranged for 6 p.m. Sunday 24th February in Pastoral centre. Mathew Costello, Luke Mitchell and Niamh Gallogly to present the medals.
  • Medals for girls: U16 Shield, U15 Div 2 Cup, U13 Shield RU, U12 Div 1 Shield RU, U12 Res Cup Winners
  • Medals for boys: Under 15 Sevens and Seamus Reilly Tournament winners.


Votes of Sympathy:

  • Families of Lally McCormack and Michael O Brien.
  • Tribute was paid to Lally who gave 30 years to the club as umpire, selector, steward and officer and was a wonderful clubman. A tribute was also paid to him at the last County Board meeting.


Pitch Sponsorship

  • A presentation on pitch sponsorship on sideline and other pitch signage was given to the committee and the committee is finalizing details before seeking sponsorship on hoardings from interested parties.


Adults Men’s Team Liaison

The team liaison officer reported that

  • Three games played to date, win v Donaghmore-Ashbourne; draw v Skryne and Oldcastle.
  • Training on Tuesdays and Thursdays and in Drumree on Saturday morning.
  • Next game v Moynalvey, away, Sunday 3 p.m. followed by home game v O Mahonys, 10th March W/E.
  • B Leagues, Div 2, Round 1 v Dunboyne Saturday; Div 5 Round 1 v Gaeil Colmcille Sunday, 4 p.m.
  • Championship draws on Monday 4th March.



  • Open evening for membership on Friday
  • It was emphasized that all players must be paid up members while team mentors at all levels must also be paid up members and be Garda Vetted
  • It was agreed that parents of young players registering should be made aware that if they are not resident in the parish they are not eligible to play with the club from Under 12 onwards as the parish rule applies in Meath. Permission to play has to be granted by the club in the parish in which the player resides and usually this is not granted.

County Board Report:

County Board delegate reported that

  • Restructuring of the championships was agreed. Club has been seeking this for a number of years.
  • Barry Callaghan is Meath Under 20 manager with selectors Darren Fay and Paddy Reynolds
  • Davy Nelson is Junior manager.
  • Price structure for championship games as follows: Senior, Intermediate, Junior €15, Students and OAPs €10. Finals and semis €20 and €15.
  • Referees expenses rising to €50 for Senior, Intermediate, Junior championship; €40 other grades; Juvenile, €20 from both clubs.
  • A number of people spoke against the high charges and suggested that promotions like Fiver Friday be used and noted that higher charges will lead to abuse of gatemen.


National Club Draw:

The club sold over 4,500 tickets for the National Club Draw. Thanks to all who assisted in the sales drive and everyone who bought tickets.

Public Relations

  • The final Operation Transformation walk is tomorrow, 21 Febr. and refreshments will be available afterwards.
  • Three members of the PR team attended a very good session organised by the County Board on PRO training on Monday night.


Clubhouse Developments:

  • Discussions and meetings are ongoing with ORS consultants re application for Fire and Disability Access cert for the upstairs part of the clubhouse.
  • A stairway in the lobby and an external fire escape are to be designed as part of this.
  • Club has agreed to the location of a temporary primary school on club grounds and planning will be sought by Department of Education.


Underage Team Management:

  • It was agreed to hold a briefing session for all mentors on the Coaching Framework, Registration, Garda Vetting, Code of Behaviour etc. Suggested we take an hour in the next fortnight, with Child Protection Officer present. A number of people could speak on different issues.
  • Pastoral centre to be booked to facilitate a meeting. It was agreed there should be no training on the night.


Adult Presentation

This year’s adult presentation night to include the Hall of Fame and the boys and girls minor winning teams will take place in The Black Bush on Saturday 30th March 2019.
